The transitive verb "to wax" can have two meanings. One is to coat with wax as a protective and beautifying layer, such as "he waxed the car", frequently things that have been waxed are also buffed. The second is to remove unwanted hair, as in "she waxed her bikini line." An action which is seldom followed by buffing.
