Bullish, Why is Trump appointing all these swamp creatures?
I can imagine that Trump is backed into a very hard place in DC. He doesn’t really know who he can really trust, other than his family. How could he ever really trust anyone from either party considering all we know about our dysfunctional state of things in our capitol? Both parties have built a giant house of cards that they must protect from collapse at all cost, because they’ve basically stolen all of our money far into the future.
But to answer your question, I see Trump as a pragmatist who believes in things that matches with conservatism, not really as a full on Christian conservative like myself. He appoints people based on whether he thinks they can get the job done, not on their political ideology, so much.
Presidential personnel management is particularly tricky. Most presidents have decades of contacts and a large Rolodex of personnel that have previously worked in politics and government for them or with them, people they know they can trust with proven loyalty. This is an operation that, so to speak has to come preloaded, not one you pickup after the fact. Why? Because it is so critical to get the right people in the right slots to hit the ground running and who are committed to YOUR agenda.
It is no surprise that this was and continues to be his Achilles heel. Look who has to go too. People he has never governed with because he has never governed himself. Deep state plants. Bush retreads.
Despite the excuses and explanation, he is the Boss, He gets the blame.
