NEW YORK Privacy rights versus press freedoms took center stage Wednesday at an explosive federal appeals court hearing in New York, where lawyers argued to unseal confidential court files that could reveal evidence of an underage sex trafficking operation allegedly run by New York multimillionaire Jeffrey Epstein and his partner, British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit reserved judgment in the case, but the panel suggested it was leaning toward the release to the public of vast portions of the court record. The file on the case, which was settled in 2017, contains more than 1,000 documents, lawyers said during oral arguments led by the Miami Herald, which seeks to open the entire file.
Most of the documents, including court orders and motions, were filed under seal or heavily redacted, similar to other cases in New York and Florida involving the wealthy, politically connected money manager. Epstein, now 66, was not a party to the lawsuit, which was filed against Maxwell in 2015 by Virginia Roberts Giuffre, who claimed she was recruited by the pair to perform massages on them when she was 16 and known as Virginia Roberts. Giuffre claims she and other girls were sexually abused and pimped out to a number of wealthy influential people from 1999 to 2002.

Alan Dershowitz is one of the plaintives in this lawsuit to open the records, he wants to clear his name.

Since Giuliani is about as far to the Left someone can be an still call himself a Republican (at least in New York City, where any politician to the right of Lenin is a Republican), that would be no great loss. I never understood all of the love for Giuliani on this site.
As with Rudy Giuliani, I never understood why Alan Dershowitz has such a big fanbase among some people on this site. Has he said or done a few things that I agree with? Sure, but so what, so has Bill Clinton, and just about anyone else you can name. It doesn't change the fact that he's a liberal hypocrite and all-around sleaze.
All the better reasons why this material should be released. Obviously, there are several guilty persons who are not in the least interested in seeing justice done.
Dershowitz is now being accused of tasting the young ladies....
So what...Dershowitz wants the court to release documents he thinks will clear his name from the taint of accusations by Virginia Giuffre one of the victims.
Epstein isn't even a party to this lawsuit.

If the court is thinking about this means it will not happen. Waiting on the input from the Clinton’s Once the Clinton mafia get through with the judge he will rule to keep these secret are he may become one of the 50+ that knew the Clinton’s that have died.
Creepy Dershowitz is desperately trying to keep those records sealed. He makes my skin crawl, and not in a good way.
The Deep State allows no one to gain power unless they have got something on them. That's what freaks them out about Trump - Stormy Daniels and the Billy Bush interview would have been enough to destroy any typical GOP "Christian conservative" poseur but Trump just shrugged those things off and went on to victory.

Yes, you’re right — thanks for the correction. Dershowitz & Co. do indeed want to unseal parts of the record that he thinks will exonerate him, but his lawyers have argued that the hearings in the matter should be held behind closed doors, with no media coverage.
