There is Saudi, Israeli, Chinese and other foreign money flowing to US politicians often indirectly. We benefit from a free and open discussion about the impact this money has on government policy. Calling discussion of money in politics anti Muslim, anti Semitic or racist is only a ploy to shut down a debate we should be having and is another assault on free speech.
I personally don’t like many of the things the new Congress people are saying. It is better for the policy discussions affecting our lives to be held in the public sphere rather than in the cloakrooms of the Capitol or the private chambers of a 9th Circuit federal judge. Free speech, no matter hw nasty it gets, is always better than controlled speech, as long as both sides of a debate are free to speak and be heard.
Truthfully, after 30 years of voting for fake conservative GOP politicians who campaign supporting policies they ignore once in office, it is refreshing to listen to the young Democrats say what they want and continue to fight for what they promised once elected. If only our Republican representatives were so truthful and consistent.
