"Hello, police, this is Alexa at 123 Main Street. I want to report my homeowner watching Fox News and reading FreeRepublic again."
The big guys will sneak this into their "home assistant" products without telling anybody. Then, when caught, they'll say "Oops, sorry."

“Yes officer, I said those things. But, I was working on the plumbing at the time.”

God makes Man on His image.
Man falls.
Man makes AI in their image.
What could possibly go wrong?

Someone is eventually going to take notice of we who don’t have these assistants, who refuse to use the Cloud and other such unmutual attitudes.

This is the result when big brother and skynet meet. Now guess what will happen when the app is forced upon you in any of your devices?

Seems like it would be easy to frame somebody with this. When you visit your brother-in-law Joe, and he is out of the room, you say, “put down the gun, Joe, put down the gun!” And then Alexa calls the cops on him.

That’s one small step for a man, one giant leap towards tyranny. 1984 was a work of fiction, not an instruction manual.

I was thinking more along the lines of: “Hello, City Hall, no Alexa has been installed and operating at 123 Main Street, please note that this property has been abandoned.”

This reminds me of the scene in “Demolition Man” where the little kiosks connected to AI warned you about bad language per verbal morality statutes and fined you, no matter where you were.

So, it is family DVD night, and we are watching some crime or adventure flick. I sure hope this thing can tell the difference between that and a real event.

Trolling Alexa is Shakespeare.

Seems like it would be easy to frame somebody with this. When you visit your brother-in-law Joe, and he is out of the room, you say, put down the gun, Joe, put down the gun! And then Alexa calls the cops on him. You don't necessarily even have to physically visit him. My phone answering machine puts whatever message somebody is leaving on the speaker. If I had Alexa (which I don't) somebody could leave a message "Alexa! Order Pizza! Alexa Call Police!"
