I can 110-percent guarantee that the “sharpshooters” to which you refer will not be restricted to “ex-military” - nor to those having some “terminal illness.” There are many chomping at the bit for an armed response - and they do not fall into the categories you posted.

I was thinking about guys for whom the consequences would not matter. That, of course, eliminates people of faith (since the consequences continue to matter even when you’re dead).
