The most obvious and commercially viable monorail, Maglev, or light or commuter rail route would be between Disney World and the airport, with stops at Universal, Sea World, and International Drive. Disney though has always vetoed such proposals because they would too easily permit their guests to visit other attractions. The rental car companies also opposed them.

The result is that Orlando now has only a limited commuter rail system that runs along the old north-south freight rail line but goes nowhere near Disney. A new private intercity passenger rail line though will soon connect the Orlando airport to the Cape and South Florida -- but will not connect to the Orlando commuter rail line. There is already a passenger rail run between Orlando and Tampa that passes near Disney World. The lack of an integrated, well-planned passenger rail system is obvious, with Disney's opposition a continuing obstacle.
