"I guess that means no “El Chapo” billions (if they even existed & were recoverable!) for the wall."

This case was a question of whether "the “excessive fines” clause of the Eighth Amendment applies to the states via the Fourteenth Amendment."

Since federal seizures already had to meet that standard, this decision doesn't change anything for El Chapo.

Fine!

Now let's get rid of RICO... Clearly the most vile theft ring in the Nation...

Ginsburg wrote the opinion of the Court. Yes, conspiracy theorists, she’s alive.

Uh, no.

Corpseburg's law clerks wrote the opinion for Supreme Court seat #6. They also voted seat #6 for the dead gal.

It’s interesting that Ginsburg got the call on the opinion in this case.

And they give the easy one to Ruth “Fuzzy Buzzy” Ginsberg. Or a clerk of hers. Put her in hospice and send the clerks home. Justice Thomas did a nice take on that!

And they also were in makeup and disguise sitting next to Chief Justice Roberts and reading the decision aloud to the Court...

Not only did Roberts hand it off, he handed it to the Court’s senior liberal...the Court is desperate to prove to the public that this woman is still capable of performing her duties - else loss of public confidence - as though that hasn't happened already.....

Was she ever as sickly as reported ?

THAT would fit (not so sick) this miricle more than the miraculous healing.

Here's the entire Opinion and concurrences (PDF)

I agree with the writer. The oral arguments on this were fairly telling. One of the justices (can't remember who) got the attorney for Indiana to admit that it would be OK with him if the state confiscated a Bugatti from someone merely for driving 5 miles over the speed limit. Even just reading the transcript, you could pretty much tell the justice was floored by this admission.

Feels like a sign of respect that Roberts trusted RBG with it.

Feels more like a swan song to me.

You all wanna see something pertaining to this?
Read this one. I was on the land after he completed a couple of the ponds. Moose were there, geese and ducks on the water and then the GD scum SOBs from under the bridge got their dander up. A good few DNR boys went into hiding around there for a while..for their safety.

Now they need to instruct the states to return all the assets they unlawfully confiscated.

Federal agencies also need to do the same.

Boom! There goes asset forfeiture.

Yes, but will the thugs have to give back the loot? Not a chance!

I don’t see it as comparable ,, El Chapo’s $Billions are 100% certifiable profits from dealing drugs. This guy had assets seized that were unrelated to his crime.
