Self-contradictory argument. If he is intelligent enough to put forth the argument that he is intellectually disabled, then he is intelligent enough to understand his crime and therefore, not intellectually disabled. Catch-22. No, his lawyers made the argument on his behalf.

No, his lawyers made the argument on his behalf. As I stated earlier, he still had to agree to the defense unless there is a court order declaring him mentally incompetent.
