he NFL and former San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick announced Friday that they have reached a settlement over Kaepernick's collusion lawsuit, The Washington Post reports. Kaepernick had sued the league after he was apparently blacklisted from playing football due to his protests during the national anthem; he has been out of the sport for the past two seasons.

No way the MFL should have settled with this communist, but they don’t seem too bright. I quit watching when the Donkeys (broncos) took a knee, so I can only laugh at their stupidity now.

“I am an NHL man now.”

Good. You’re watching a real sport. Where even foreigners stand in front of the national anthem. As an ex-canadian, welcome to the violent world of hockey LOL

I Didn’t watch any super bowl stuff.

I know it is probably chicken feed to the NFL, but it still seems excessive for a PR move. Why wouldn’t this just encourage more kneeling? He got paid. I wonder if they actually had evidence. Was it arbitrated with the union?

Blacklisted? Oh,I get it! ROTFLMAO!!!

Of course his demands for $50 million a year combined with a 2 and 14 record had nothing to do with it!

He did opt out of his contract in SF, although the rumor at the time was that the team was going to cut him (NFL teams can dump most contracts) so he just tried to get out in front of a negative story there.

But yeah, he wasn’t so great as QB and was hard to fit into many other teams’ schemes, especially as a potential back-up (where they wouldn’t want to structure the offensive scheme around him). He wasn’t good enough to start with more than a few teams at best, but the fact that a lot of teams did not want to base their offense around his flaky style of play meant the options narrowed (few if any teams want a back-up QB who is not going to step in easily to the scheme/plays practiced for their #1 guy).

Also, reportedly he wanted starter money when few if any teams were going to consider him a starter. If he had been openly committed to serving as a back-up for $1-3 million per yr then he might have had options, but he wanted starter money and there were hardly any possibilities for him even without the politics.

Add in the radical politics/posturing, the fact that he seemed more interested in his politics than in stilly playing QB at the NFL level, and what team would want to risk their billion dollar franchise on such a flake???

I highly doubt this. No one can speak about it, so its pure hyperbole. It benefits SJWs and even Kaepernick himself to pretend he has that much power.

To get $60-$80 million, there would have had to been real damage to him, real collusion, and some high-level scheme to keep him out of the league for some specifically illegal reason.

Two coaches saying “he’s a pain in the ass” over a beer does not count.

I suspect they paid Kaepernick $250K, maximum, to end his nuisance lawsuit.

Yeah this is a weird story. I recall MLB paying 250+ million in the late 80s for collusion damages. I think they had secretarial notes or actual minutes from owner’s meetings. But that was an arbitration, is this NFL thing a union/owners thing?

Nope. You aren’t the only one.

I haven’t watched a football game since Roger Staubach quit playing. And the last time I really enjoyed watching football was when Bart Starr was playing.

For the last 25 years, I have used the term “Sportsfan’ as an insult.

I had in on in the background while I did some coding on a website, but I didn’t pay for it. OTA.

I haven’t had the time for sports in years. Even if I did, I wouldn’t follow the NFL or the NBA. Who needs politics in their entertainment?

Kaepernick has been greatly rewarded for making very bad choices.

Rewards tend to reinforce behavior, which leads me to believe that Kaepernick will make more very bad choices.

I will not be surprised at all if he ends up broke, dead, in prison, or encounters some similar fate within the next few years.

Oh say can you see
Kaepernick on his knee
As he once again fails to score a winning TD?
Whose broad socks and tattooes
Through the perilous blocking
From the Press Booth we watched
Were police officer-mocking.
And the punter’s long kicks
Shanking wide of the ‘sticks’
Gave proof like a bruise
That the Whiners would lose.
Oh, say, does that star-studded team still play
O’er the Valley of Silicon near the City by the Bay?

Could be $60-$80 million...mabe not.

Whatever it is, all the teams will be required to kick in, so we’ll know for sure when the Green Bay Packers publish their balance sheet for the year. Remember, Packers are publicly owned.
