“3 billion for 25,000 jobs is $120,000 per job. Most of the “subsidies” are scams on the taxpayer.”

Are they truly subsidies where a check is written to a company?
Or on the other hand a situation where the government doesn’t collect some tax?
A big difference

Even if that were the case, the government should collect taxes from some business, but favor others?

These tax incentives punish business that have been paying their fair share. It's like the guys who turns his back on a dutiful wive who has been supporting him and putting up with his cr@p for years, and then the fellow buys a big diamond necklace to the new floozy who showed up.

And as stupid as well - how often do we hear about taxpayers getting shafted when these businesses take off after sucking up the fat subsidies?

If you like welfare, then you like big taxpayer subsidies.

No free market person would like this.

That's what I was thinking...not to mention the NYC and NYS taxes these jobs would generate, as well as all the secondary spending benefits those jobs would bring to the local economy.

Over how many years, or is that figure annual (doubtful)?

If that's an absolute number, which it seems to be from news reports, then, say, over 10 years it comes to $12K / job, which would yield an enormous return for the city in taxes, economic activity, etc., not to mention all associated economic activity and jobs to support those Amazon workers and infrastructure.

And if so, it's plain dumb of NYC and its plainly dumb Representative from the Bronx (via Westchester County).
