If the pollsters at CNN and CBS are correct, Donald Trump may have found the formula for winning a second term in 2020.
His State of the Union address, say the two networks, met with the approval of 76 percent of all viewers -- 97 percent of Republicans, 82 percent of independents and 30 percent of Democrats. Seventy-two percent agreed with the president's plans for securing the border with Mexico.
Trump was not only unapologetic in defense of his wall. He seemed to relish savaging the rising radicalism of Democrats on two critical issues many Democrats have, since their 2018 triumph, seized upon: abortion on demand, right up to the day of birth, and soak-the-rich socialism.

These are the Democrats who will abandon the "Party of AOC" and become Republicans. Most likely they are "straight" and white.

I remember reading an article by William F Buckley on Buchanan’s run.
It was a kind of a slam at Buchanan, but Buckley did say, toward the end of his article, that Buchanan was more of a prophet than a politician, and that “if the country is to be saved, it will be saved along the lines laid down by Buchanan.”
There were quite a few at the Trump rally we attended. :-)
Basically all President Trump has to do is run against the Democrats. When Nancy Pelosi represents the more moderate wing of your party, you know you’ve got a bunch of real whack jobs in it.
That was the big upside of the Democrats taking the House. They’ve probably just ensured Trump’s re-election. I hope their tears are just as salty this time.
I work with one. 100% liberal, 100% snowflake, wanted Bernie to win the presidency. Feels his nearly 100 grand in student loans should just be forgiven. Makes you weep for the future.
The winning formula is let the Democrats eat their own, self destruct, and continue talking about their loony left proposals.

I always like reading Pat’s take on Trump because as you say, he laid a lot of the groundwork for Trump’s positions on many issues.

Triumph? As mid-term elections go, this was hardly a “triumph”. They lost ground in the Senate, and barely got a majority in the House, which they are now using to make asses of themselves.
Exactly right. I’ve been saying that too. GOP has gotta make it an imperative to start getting 65% or more of the white vote. Only way to stave off the scum.

Either that, or just walk away from politics and let the Democrats do whatever they have in store for us.
The days when whites could split their vote between two parties which both support the Constitution are LONG GONE, and that is NOT the fault of whites.
I said to my wife over the weekend, if CNN is reporting 76% it’s probably closer to 90!
