Media makes most of Ralph Northam mess
The Boston Herald ^ | 02-03-2019 | Tom Shattuck

Posted on 02/03/2019 4:36:38 AM PST by calvincaspian

Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam is looking at the man in the mirror today, and the disgraced politician is a far cry from the progressive hero he was earlier this week.

While the opportunistic politicians scamper like rats from the scene, media activists are taking a stand for their man, deflecting and reshaping the narrative in a desperate attempt to save their hero.

The media’s love for Northam was earned. It started on a radio show as he mused about ending the life of unborn children in the third trimester if they were accidentally born alive mid-abortion.

He was cool as a cucumber as he described the baby’s last few moments. “The infant would be delivered,” he said in a singsong manner. “The infant would be kept comfortable.”

The “infant.”

Gross.

Media types had already begun to circulate an image of Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell a few years back at an event with a Confederate flag in the background. Among those attempting to make the photo a current news item were Washington Post Global Opinions Editor Karen Attiah and Northeastern University associate professor and WGBH gadfly Dan Kennedy, whose stock in trade is teaching aspiring journalists the tricks of the trade.

Kennedy’s smug caption: “In other news …”

But McConnell’s past optics missteps weren’t in the news until Kennedy and his ilk put them there. And doing so when the whole country is fixated on the outrageously racist PR disaster unfolding in Virginia can only be seen as an attempt to deflect from a news story that simply doesn’t fit their chosen narrative.

What a lesson for the journalism students at Northeastern.

I was sent the disgusting photo of Northam in Oct, 2018. I was not able to independently verify that the photo was of Northam therefore I did not publish the story. But, this indicates that the photo was probably known about by others who may have squashed it for political reasons

* "Once his infanticide support came to light, decision makers in the Democratic Party probably leaked the photo to get him out of office after realizing the US isn’t ready for legally killing babies outside the birth canal quite yet." – Joshua Miller

* "This was my thought too. They had to get late-term abortion out of the headlines as soon as possible so they dropped the hammer on him. Now everyone is talking about the Dr. and blackface instead of the Dr. and infanticide. Having a Dem Lt. Gov. made it an easy decision." --- RockyMtnPatriot

The Boston Herald, like the NY Post, is a rare example of a paper that is still worth getting. You would not hear this from the Boston Globe rag, or the NY Times rag.

I hope he weathers the storm, and shows America that all of us may have done STUPID things in college, but that doesn’t define who we are today.

“The infant would be comfortable”?! How does that work exactly? Seely posturpedic mattress? Last meal? Lullaby’s? God does indeed work in mysterious ways.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I’ve been saying that since the beginning. We have all done stuff many years ago that look stupid today.
Before you know it they will be looking in everyones year book for fart jokes as a disqualification.
Plus if he stays in office it will keep the infanticide story going.
Just keep in mind Northam was elected governor in Nov 2017.
Ironically, Northam is credited with winning the Virginia governor's race using deceptive tactics, tarring his opponent, Gillespie, as a "white nationalist."
==============================================
Northam made effective use of Pelosi's demonization tactic called the “wrap-up smear.”
CHECK OUT THE PELOSI VIDEO HERE
https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/nancy-pelosi-wrap-up-smear/
The video has Pelosi saying: “We (Democrats) call it the ‘wrap-up smear.’ You smear somebody, with falsehoods and all the rest,
and then you merchandise it to the media,” Pelosi blithely revealed at a press conference last year.
======================================
Northam also sent out a campaign mailer tying both President Donald Trump and Ed Gillespie to white nationalists, then on-the-prowl in Charlottesville, Va.
Later, a pro-Northam group ran an ad labeling Gillespie as a "genocidal white supremacist." Northam dutifully reported the ad as an "in-kind" donation to his campaign.
Not to be outdone, then-governor, Terry McAuliffe, accused Gillespie of having run the "most racist" campaign in Virginia history.
McAuliffe actually took Democrat slime politics to new depths of depravity; McAuliffe suggested Gillespie's campaign was more racist than the secessionist movement supporting slavery, the segregationists, and the opposition to interracial marriage.
That's how ridiculous it got.
=====================================
SOUND FAMILIAR This patented Democrat "wrap-up smear" was used against Justice Kavanaugh.
Hillary was very good at the "wrap-up smear"----she'd "leak" what she said was damaging info on Trump to the media. Then when the smear was published---she'd wave around the clipping, "proof-positive" that she was the superior candidate.
I really don't care about some photo that was done in jest in someone's youth, however, conservatives are crucified for less, therefore, it's nice to see one of their own hoisted on their own petard
Media types gleefully circulated an image of Sen Mitch McConnell w/ a Confederate flag in the background....including the usual suspects.....Washington Post Global Opinions Editor Karen Attiah and Northeastern University associate professor and WGBH gadfly Dan Kennedy, whose stock in trade is teaching aspiring journalists the tricks of the trade.
I guess they regret having "missed" Democrats Clinton/Gore proudly using the Confederate flag as campaign items.
While I find his stance despicable on abortion, I have to agree with you. Letting stupid things that happened decades ago color a person is just going to lead to be bigger clown posse in congress than we have now. Very few of the best of the best are going to want to help govern this country through running for office if their whole life is under a microscope.
Maybe Northam’s not far enough left for them and this is their way of putting Fairfax in.
