Surveillance video captured potential persons of interest in the attack on "Empire" actor Jussie Smollett in the Streeterville neighborhood, Chicago police said Wednesday afternoon.
A community alert with photos will be released soon, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said in a 4:53 p.m. tweet.
At about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Smollett, 36, was walking alone in the 300-block of East North Water Street when two people he didn't know started yelling racial and homophobic slurs at him, police said. He told Chicago police that the attackers yelled "MAGA country," Guglielmi said.
Police are investigating the incident as a possible hate crime. A dozen detectives are working on the case and have reviewed hundreds of hours of surveillance video, police have said.
The video shows two people walking in the general area of where Smollett was and does not show the attack. Chicago police said they would like to question the two people in for questioning.
Maybe it’s a secret police tactic.

The police said there’s no confirmation that Jussie had a broken rib. I believe the exact words were that it was “not part of the medical record.” This was reported during the 3:00 news hour on Fox. I’ve checked Fox’s web site and googled for it but cannot find it among the videos or a story on it. I heard it with my own ears.
He has a scratch on his face..which he could have done to himself EASILY..heck if he wanted to he could have broken his rib just by falling on the ice..when cops arrived at his apt, he demanded the cops turn OFF their body cams, why, if you were the victim of an assault wouldn’t you want cops to have it as evidence, outcry witnesses
Was listening to libral youtuber Tim Pool one of the few still sane lefties. He is very familiar with the area that the attack supposedly took place in as a kid he would be out there skate boarding at 2 am. According to the reporter there is just to much private security patrolling in the area the person said the attack took place in along with video security systems.
Yelling homophobic slurs? How would they know he was gay unless they specifically knew who he was? I assume in -20 degree weather, he was well-bundled up and his identity could not have been determined from a distance.
