Covington Diocese ‘More Concerned with Protecting Own Reputations’ than ‘Catholic Students’

Shortened title.

Full title: Catholic Education Advocate: Covington Diocese ‘More Concerned with Protecting Own Reputations’ than ‘Catholic Students’

Some Catholic leaders and conservatives are denouncing the Covington Diocese and the Kentucky Catholic Conference (KCC) for condemning students of Covington Catholic High School who found themselves at the center of a national media hoax.

The Catholic students, who wore MAGA hats, were the victims of a deceptively edited viral video that portrayed the students as engaging in disrespectful remarks and gestures during an encounter with Native American activist Nathan Phillips and the religious sect known as the Black Hebrew Israelites.

Media pundits across the political spectrum immediately began condemning the students. However, other video of the entire encounter shows the students were not only verbally accosted and insulted by the Black Hebrew Israelites – who hurled racial and homophobic slurs at them – but that Philips himself initiated the encounter with the young students, yet failed to provoke them.

These students were violently threatened by leftist thugs while at the March for Life.

When the returned home they were threatened with expulsion from their school.

Extremely shameful and cowardly of the Archdiocese of Covington to turn on their own students when the first Leftist faked videos came out.

Hopefully, the Archdiocese will retire Bishop Foy and get somebody with guts to replace him.

There is a great fear of the left in this country.

There is fear of what leftists and the liberal media will say about people and institutions.

The cowards at that school.and church, were fearful of being criticized by the NY Times. They were fearful of what Hollywood idiots would say about them.

I don’t know when this fear of the left started to change people’s behavior. But in my opinion, that’s part of what is going on here.

Sounds like the church I used to believe in is exactly like the party I used to believe in. I wonder whether the Catholic clergy and the GOP have the same spine removal surgeon.

It’s sad that the president that libs love to say have no morals appears to be the only leader out there with morals.

The malfeasant bishop Foys is 73 years old. Whatever we might hope for, we will not likely see his retirement for two more years.

Him being named in a libel or slander suit could change that.

The Covington Diocese “reputation” as preferring the liberal, “seamless garment” nonsense, to the Gospel of Life is well intact.

It’s the diocese of Covington. Not important or populous enough to be ranked as an archdiocese.

Their archdiocese would probably be Cincinnati. Not that it matters anymore.

The present Catholic hierarchy is failing miserably. They have allowed perverts into all positions of leadership, and they have allowed the false religion of post-modernism and progressivism to corrupt their faith.

These Catholic leaders violated their own rules ...

‘’According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, whoever “even tacitly, assumes as true, without sufficient foundation, the moral fault of a neighbor” is guilty of rash judgment, and whoever, “by remarks contrary to the truth, harms the reputation of others and gives occasion for false judgments concerning them” is guilty of calumny, or slander.’’

The Catholic hierarchy is basically liberal and squeamish.

Making a priest an administrator doesn’t change the fact he is still a bureaucrat with all the self centered reasoning processes of a bureaucrat.

IOW, make as few decisions as possible that require taking a firm stand on principle. And always, always, CYA comes ahead of everything else - including right & wrong.

“These Catholic leaders violated their own rules”

They are not real Catholics.

They are not leaders.

They are aging corrupt, decadent placeholders trying to appease the media.

"Extremely shameful and cowardly of the Archdiocese of Covington to turn on their own students when the first Leftist faked videos came out."

Here's the sobering question that all Catholics should ask themselves. If this were my church and my diocese this happened to, would they act any differently? I suspect that if most of us were honest, they would come to the answer of no...
