Well, if he escaped from Jail, it certainly wasn't while the USMC was holding him for being UA (From the FOIA request for data on him...from Chief Shipley who displayed this nicely):

In his excellent video at: Nathan Phillips, AKA Nathan Stanard, Native American Drummer Dude was NOT a Vietnam Vet

Heh, in the great video, Shipley says to Philips as he faces the camera: “Don’t go AWOL in the Marine Corps. They don’t like that s**t.”

Yeah, that (unlike Mr. Phillips) is pretty straightforward.

So being in the reserves makes me think he had time to get jailed. Doesn’t look like ‘75 was a good year for him. But, he never got further than E-1? Did he have a reduction in rank for being AWOL? In any case, a proven liar.

So true: in 1975 I was a First Lieutenant of Marines and I am pleased to say that I put dozens of dirtballs like him in the brig and out of the Corps.

We had a lot of Marines back then that should never have been recruited in the first place.
