They passed the Secure Fence Act in 2006 when they had majorities in both houses.

Since the Republican base responded by primarying a large part of those who were the logjam on the Republican side, that would be an entirely nonsensical question.
That is why even democrats aren’t asking it.
They needed 60 votes in the Senate, and wouldn’t have gotten that even if flocks of flying pigs darkened the sky at noon.
