Monday, January 21, 2019, California Senator Kamala Devi Harris announced her candidacy for the 2020 Presidential election.
Outstanding questions pertaining to her candidacy include her eligibility for this office. The US Constitution specifies only a "natural born" US citizen may hold this post. Definitions of that term, according to the intent of the writers of the Constitution, as well as some later court rulings, indicate this means "born to two US citizen parents." The requirement was intended so that only someone with undivided loyalties to the US, someone not with possible divided loyalties to other nations, could assume the title of commander-in-chief of our armed forces.
And the response will be that conservatives think all black people are not eligible, just like Barry.
I don’t think either are, but this will never be debated on the merits.
Do you believe Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is more of a loyal citizen than Donald Trump Jr.?
Since they’ve been giving out birth certificates to illegal aliens, I’m not sure that would help. But yes, every SOS should check for a candidate’s eligibility. Which none of them did for O’muslim.
She is referred to as African-American. I have heard, however, that she is half Indian (subcontinental) and half Jamaican. While the Jamaican portion may have slave roots, they are not American slave roots.
People of American black ancestry will have to be the ones to doxx her.
No individual State Secretary is going to demand that ALL presidential candidates furnish certified copies of their parents' birth certificates prior to their names being placed on the ballot.
I say ALL candidates because if we're going to make parental citizenship a criteria for eligibility, won't all candidates will need to prove the citizenship of their parents?
Ain't gonna happen.
“...Other information, such as Donald Harriss work involving foreign affairs and the Ford Foundation...”
Well just dang! What a coincident, Obama’s momma worked for the Ford Foundation also.
Wonder if they knew each other?
Yes that should happen. You have to prove your natural born status as well as your age..... per the Constitution anyway.
So any candidate needs the paperwork on their parents citizenship (birth certificate or naturalization paperwork) as well as a birth certificate proving age.
These documents should be available to the public for the duration of the presidency. (Last part is mine and unfortunately is not enshrined in the constitution)
Under a precedent going back to 1898, as far as U.S. courts are concerned, Kamala Harris is a natural born citizen.
That is a fact. Opinions of that fact, pretending it is not the case, or looking for excuses that will not hold up will not change it.
If she runs in 2020 the only way to beat her is in the ballot box, and not with legalisms that would get thrown out of court.
No, not at all, but that question has nothing to do with the clause. Their are many great people in history that are not qualified to be president. There are also many dispicable people who are eligible.
I do not believe any of Trumps kids from Ivans are eligible as she was not a citizen until 1988.
So are we. We have the documents.
Thanks for the clarification.
Courts interpret the Constitution
LOL! I always thought I could read plain english pretty well and really did not require any “interpretation” of what was written in plain english.
She was born in California and the law of the land long before she was born was that she is a citizen.
Merely being a citizen, under the Constitution, doesn’t make you eligible to become POTUS.
Under Article II the eligibility requirement is that the QUALITY of your birth is that of a Natural Born Citizen. In several notable USSC decisions a NBC is defined as someone born in a country to citizen PARENTS. I understand that although her mother was a naturalized US citizen her father was still had his original Jamaican passport and citizenship. If that is in fact the case she is NOT eligible.
then under U.S. v. Wong Kim Ark, Harris is a natural born citizen.
Wong doesn’t say that. It in fact says that Wong was a US citizen with rights the same as if he were a NBC. This was an attempt by the court to prevent “classes” of citizenship.
While ALL citizens have exactly the same rights there is NO right to the Presidency. Eligibility requirements must be met. One must be an NBC.
Surprising how many want to throw it away.
I, for one am damn tired of hearing all the negativity. Especially before the fight has really started as with this issue currently.
If your one that is quick to say things like “there is nothing you can do about it”. To you I say: stuff it! If your OFFENDED by this, I don’t give a damn.
I am offended and highly disappointed in my fellow Americans who have such defeatist attitudes.
if I’m not mistaken, no one outside of the DNC hierarchy, the Fed Election Commish and both the Governor and the Sec of State of Hawaii knew about the altered form until after the obozo was already in the WH. Hillary Clinton was the first to raise obozo’s eligibility issue during the campaign time frame. Shortly after the hag raised that question, the head of the democrat party in Little Rock Arkansas was shot to death in his office while sitting at his desk. No body in DC ever questioned Obozo’s eligibility after that murder, not even the hag.
Donald Harris held a British passport in late 1959, the terms of which stated it was good for five years. Was Kamala born while Donald Harris was on a student visa to the USA as a British subject (although Jamaica itself received independence in 1962)? The answers are within official archives.
Lieutenant Quarells Harris accessed Obama’s passport file in early 2008, and shortly thereafter was found gunned down on a D.C. street.
"Under the 14th Amendment's Naturalization Clause and the Supreme Court case of United States v. Wong Kim Ark, 169 US. 649, anyone born on U.S. soil and subject to its jurisdiction is a natural born citizen, regardless of parental citizenship. This type of citizenship is referred to as birthright citizenship."
