I disagree. Trump lost ZERO cred by pulling out of Syria (except maybe with Obama and the EU). Our involvement in Syria was merely an extension of Libya , which was to kill the dictator and seize his assets and those Russian oil money laundering funds being held in EU banks. Both Libya and Syria were staged by CIA hired mercenaries. Nothing more than an effort to stop Russia from dominating non-USD oil sales
Syria is a lose/lose situation pulling out is wise
By leaving Syria, we are allowing Russia to rebuild Assad and increase her ties with him. Full stop.
Now it can and probably should be argued that we had no business there in the first place, but the US went in to try to leverage a Russian ally out of the picture. Trump attempting to remove US influence is viewed as treason by many in the beltway who have been trying to remove a Russian ally for decades.
Remember, DC does not really care about what you and I believe. They are pretty insulated from the normal citizens. However the institutions do have a number on long term interests, destroying Russian interests being one of them. They already have a very negative view of Trump. The Syrian move just struck at one of the long term goals, and in their view is proof that Trump is a Russian agent. Couple that with the shutdown and he has little to no support in the government.
