The most detailed unionist account of the war in Missouri is Wiley Britton. It is two volumes and both are available in paperback as Bison Books and pretty cheap. Britton is very good and comprehensive. Hard back sets are hard to find and a bit pricey. I ended up getting a set from an English bookseller at a lot less than copies in the US are.
