Thursday morning, Grandma and Grandpa took me to see Richie. What a precious little guy.
He was still sleeping when we arrived but when he woke, he looked around and then starting looking for Daddy.
He is definitely a Daddy's Boy. Richie did not cry but started grumbling.
Brian came around the corner and asked "What ya need, Dude?"
That seemed to satisfy Richie; he just wanted to make sure Daddy was close by.
I was so blessed to be able to offer a prayer for him and to ask God to keep him in his healing embrace.
I'm a lousy singer but I sang a few lines of "Jesus Loves You, This I know for the Bible Tells me so".
Not sure how much Richie enjoyed it but made me feel wonderful.
Brian is full-time care-giver. He is an awesome Dad, but I do worry about him not taking care of himself.
Though you can't tell by looking at him, Richie is still not eating enough. He is really growing but continues to be fed thru the peg.
He loves being home where he is able to watch his favorite cartoon, "Team Umizoomi" on his IPad. I'm not sure how much he understands but it does make him smile and he 'talked' to the characters a couple of times.
Otherwise he was not in a 'talking' mood. He was in a good mood but I think he would have preferred waking up before company arrived.
Brian reads to him so I took "Hop on Pop". Most of the time, it is just the two of them in the apartment. Mommy is still taking classes and spends a lot of time on homework.
As far as progress, there is very little change. Brian seems to think that he may be getting some feeling below the waist.
There is still no reaction to needle pricks in his fingers. He does shake his head yes and no. When I told him that I loved him,
he shook his head no and when I said yes I do, he shook his head yes. LOL
I'm sure he had no idea what I was telling him, but we enjoyed our little conversation.
There are times when Richie's legs start quivering and Brian thinks it is when Richie needs to stretch his legs. He showed me how to stretch his leg and gently push his toes back toward his torso.
It seems when I pushed on his toes, I felt Richie pushing back.
I do not know whether or not this was voluntary. BUT, I'm assuming it is an indication that it was a sign of some improvement.
We left after visiting for a little more than two hours. I know that Brian enjoyed our company for that time. He must get tired but he is thrilled to have his son home and to be able to care for him. It was a very emotional experience for me and I was tired when I got home.
Sorry this update was mostly my thoughts and observations but otherwise there isn't a lot of news.
Thank you all for your prayers and good wishes. Please continue to pray for God's miracle.
