Congresswoman Rashida Kalib, the woman who said regarding President Trump, "Impeach the MFr!", was sworn into office on Thomas Jefferson's Koran. Why did Jefferson have a Koran? I can assure you, it's not for the reason the media has told you.

Btt
Beck talked about this once. He stated that Jefferson wanted to understand what Moooslims believed that caused them to act so savagely.
He had the koran for the same reason my grandparents made me read Mao’s little red book when I visited them over the summer when I was 12.
Know the enemy.
They march in lines and carry signs protesters one and all
They’d rather go to prison than to heed their country’s call
Get out of here get out of there let’s have an end to war
I’m glad they weren’t around to say get out of Valley Forge
The Minute Men are turning in their graves
Washington and Jefferson are crying tears of shame
To see these men who’d rather live as slaves
The Minute Men are turning in their graves

This short book review is a MUST SEE.
American historian WILLIAM FEDERER explains What Every American Needs to Know about the Quran.

He had it so he could understand how to fight Muslims better. Certainly not because he thought the Islamic faith had a place in the world.
Jefferson and Adams met with a representative of the countries that were kidnapping our merchant marines. The muslim showed a Koran and said non believers must be dealt with in that manner. It was then that Jefferson decided that if he was to ever lead our nation he’d go to war with these people. Adams was no help. Washington advocated paying them off.
I wouldn't call it that; it's more of a geopolitical death cult.
The Sale translation that Jefferson owned was done for specific purpose of aiding Christian missionaries to Mohametans.
Jefferson found it useful in understanding Muslim Barbary Pirates, who dealt in European slaves and kidnapping Americans at sea. It might be understood as leading to a strong US Navy and US Marines.
He wanted to know about the people he was sending our marines to Tripoli to fight.
Toilet Paper hadn’t been invented yet?
“... Washington advocated paying them off...”
As did every other European seafaring nation did at that time. There was no European\Western consensus as what to do about them. In fact none did coalesce until Jefferson authorized William Eaton to organize the Tripoli Expedition (Maybe the first Presidential authorized covert action!), 8 USMC 3 USN ships some 500 mercenaries against 4000-5000 defending Derna, result victory, & 2nd line in the USMC hymn - “ to the shores of Tripoli”. Later a joint UK-French Expedition crushed the pirates inspired by the upstart Americans.
Know the enemy.
Islamic slavers were capturing and enslaving Americans.
He sent the Marines to deal with them.
They left US alone for 150+ years.
“Know the enemy.”
Yup. Our founders are rolling over in their graves. Now our government is inviting the farking enemy into the country and making them citizens
Read Kilmead’s book on the Barbary wars. Britain was neutral and Gibraltar is where both the US and Muslim ships were anchored. Muslims knew that once they left Gibralter all bets were off. The war of 1812 gave the muslims the opportunity to attack us (again) after they surrendered and agreed to stop that crap.
You mean wikipedia is not good enough? /s ;)
Where are you heading Leatherneck?
I'm off to Tripoli son! It's someplace in
Africa, don't know where,
But an ornery pirate gang is there,
And we're under orders to sweep it bare of
each pirate son-of-a-gun.
So off they went, it was eighteen five,
And they piled in there with a mighty
drive 'Til hardly a pirate was left alive.
And, Jefferson said: "Well done."
Wikipedia is cheaper-and quicker. I used the term read in past tense-I read it. Not telling anyone how to use their time.
