Wonder what the media reaction would have been if this guy was going to meet a 14 or 15 year old girl? Betting it wouldn’t have been nearly as sympathetic.

Police in Jacksonville run these stings all the time. Like shooting fish in a barrel, men are lined up around the block. In each case the sting is to meet who they believe are underage females. Always females. Never boys.

They never try to catfish gay men. I suspect they don't want to deal with the optics and accusations of homophobia.

Of course, they're lauded for their efforts.

Trying to deal with the homosex crowd outside of a serious effort to do it from a holy framework (read: Romans 13) is likely — nay guaranteed — to slip and fall. It’ll feed an already widespread sympathy movement.

Technically, I have a hard time believing that what is described here is legal. That’s the problem. If Connecticut legalized catfishing as a form of citizens arrest that would be another matter. They also don’t know who they might catch — it might be an anti-catfisher next time and we’ll see a gun massacre.
