You must be a cat person then, since cats are of the opinion that they own the people.
I wouldn’t describe myself as a cat person. I did live with a great one once, kept to himself but was very affectionate when he sensed that it would be welcome. A truly intelligent animal.
A horse went by on 37th Street one time and my roommate and I came to attention, so the cat did too—not from the hoofbeats but because we were listening. He also went for an adventure outside the apartment one day and even took the elevator to another floor. They had to call me at work because he wouldn’t let anyone else near him. He was rare, though. A purebred. But not like the Siamese and Abyssinian, who are haughty and vain and sneaky and pouty. He was Burmese. Not showy-looking at all. Just beautiful. I recommend to anyone who wants the perfect cat.
