At the store where I work, they come in with three and four tax exemptions (kids)climbing all over everything, and the parents don’t know five words of English. They flash a cellphone in front of my face which has translated what they spoke into it in Chicken Spanish into a text message in English. You can thank Microsoft and the Chinese and whoever else in Silicon Valley for being the enablers of this massive unfrickingbelievable invasion.
I witnessed something aggravating the other day. In a US post office, a customer spoke no English but wanted to pick up a package. The employee then mentioned about ten countries in south or central America and did it as slowly as possible hoping he’d get a lead of some sort. The customer never reacted. He then said something about a translator being next door.
They still have to attempt to translate into English where you live? Here, at the bank, store, etc, there are always employees who speak Spanish so they don’t have to attempt any English ever.
