An Oval Office meeting with President Trump, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and presumptive incoming speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi Tuesday spiraled out of control — in Pelosi's words — over funding the border.
With a potential government shutdown looming less than two weeks away, Pelosi told Mr. Trump, "you will not win" on the border wall. The president demanded border wall funding — and said he's not afraid the shut down the government over it.

I don't think Trump can get away with having the military build the wall without fund specifically appropriated for it. As much as I would like to see him try, should it come to that, I think there would be too much opposition from Congress - from both sides of the "aisle."

People want border security, especially after seeing the caravan and all its problems.

Trump learned his lesson on meeting with those snakes behind closed doors. I don’t recall the exact issue, but Durbin burned him by misrepresenting what was said.

Shut down the government. Never pay the “workers” for time off...they are usually given a paid vacay. Many governmeent “workers” are a complete waste of money.

Maybe not but the Military can be used to secure the border by other means short of a permanent physical wall. The short term goal is stop the invasion now.
I believe Trump could declare the wall a national security measure and use military and homeland security funds. I’m sure that would be fought by the illegal lovers on both sides, but it would be interesting to see who and how that would turn out.
