Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said on Tuesday that he will bring up a bipartisan criminal justice bill up for a vote, marking a significant win for supporters including President Trump.
"At the request of the president and following improvements to the legislation that has been secured by several members, the Senate will take up the recently revised criminal justice bill," McConnell said from the Senate floor.
Backers and advocates have been publicly and privately lobbying McConnell for months to bring the bill to the floor, arguing that they have at least 70 votes in support of the legislation. The bill, spearheaded by Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dick Durbin (D-Ill.), merges a House-passed prison reform bill aimed at reducing recidivism with four changes to sentencing laws.
McConnell's remarks are a dramatic turn around from last week, when he appeared to warn at a Wall Street Journal event that he did not have time to move the criminal justice bill this year, which he said could take up to 10 days.

Ok what about the fn Wall?
>Ok what about the fn Wall?
“F* the Wall”
- McConnell
The election was ‘won’, back to the same-ol-same-ol
Amazing how the Senate complains “we don’t have time!” when they work three days a week, and sit there with their thumbs up their asses for those three days.
Useless assholes, the lot of them.
This is POTUS throwing a bone to the Never Trumper “conservatives” in the Senate and rabid Dems on “prison reform. They won’t be returning the favor of course.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand the WALL???????
HOwsabout that one, you damned cowardly idiot??
POTUS obviously wants something to sign. He’s getting nothing out of Ryan and McConnell. They are slow walking the lame duck. Just pathetic.
..... following improvements to the legislation ....
Who got paid off, how much was $pent, and who’s got the noose?
What about permanent tax cuts?
Yeah that’s nice but we took in 1.75 million legals and illegals last year. Of those who vote, 2/3 will vote democrat, so will their children when they grow up.
Red states are turning purple, purple states are turning blue.
If something serious isn’t done soon to severely limit immigration (legal and illegal) we are finished.
No bill is better than a bad bill. Javanka continue their malevolence and The Donald goes along with them. So disappointing. He is better than I thought he would be and infinitely better than the alternative, but the unforced errors and missed opportunities are a bitter pill to swallow.
Exactly what percentage of voters who supported POTUS/GOP last month wanted them to waste their final hours of the year on this travesty? Um, zero.
I hope the impending Pelosi fright-fest brings out the better angels of POTUS, but I wonder.

My eyes cannot roll hard enough at posters like you.

Good luck with that. Twinkle Toes Mattis will order a study to be conducted and the issue will be buried. Unfortunately, the military brass is loyal to the Deep State.
I voted for Trump because of the Wall, not prison reform.
SECURE OUR DAMN BORDERS
The only prison reform I wanted from Trump was to have HRC in it or hung. But hey, campaign promises are made to be broken. Over and Over
I've often wondered why Trump has been so willing to go along with the GOP establishment's agenda and to appoint so many RNC-vetted party hacks to high level cabinet positions. My take is that he realizes that without the backing of the House and Senate GOP, he can accomplish nothing. This means supporting their agenda and their people with the hope that they'll reciprocate when an issue important to Trump and his base comes to the fore. Unfortunately, I doubt the GOP establishment will show much gratitude - not for Trump signing this bill, and not for his nomination of Bush flunky Barr as AG. Reciprocity and gratitude just aren't their game.
McConnell has been under immense pressure for weeks to bring this bill to the floor - it has been one of the biggest news items - media campaigns are being waged against him, etc. precisely because he was not making this a top priority. And just a bit earlier today there was a border wall showdown at the White House where Trump was blasting Schumer for not allowing enough Senators to even vote to move a bill on border wall funding forward - that also made major news.
