FBI agents served a federal search warrant at a lice removal salon in Los Altos Wednesday (Dec. 5) morning, but declined to say what the investigation was about.
Agents showed up at LoveBugs Lice Removal, located at the Rancho Shopping Center, around 8 a.m. Wednesday, according to an employee at the 76 gas station nearby who said a customer had seen the agents.
FBI spokeswoman Cameron Rogers Polan declined to say what the investigation was about because, she said, the affidavit supporting the warrant had been sealed by a judge. LoveBugs founder Marika Mavromatis did not return multiple requests for comment.
Mavromatis developed the salons nontoxic, all-natural lice removal technique in Greece before emigrating to the U.S. in 1955 and becoming an American citizen, according to the salons website.
The salon has been operating in Los Altos for more than a decade and has a second location in Lafayette.

Unless something has drastically changed, Lafayette isnt exactly for poor folks. Lots of expensive homes.
These salons flourish in New York City. Expensive, but they do the job. You walk out looking better than you ever looked before.
I never knew about head lice until my kid came home from a pricey NYC day care place scratching her head, which she had never done before. I called them and they said “Uh oh, the girls were trying on hats.”
By the way, when someone who has head lice dies, the lice flee from the cold scalp onto the pillow. That’s usually how they know in the hospitals that someone has died.

Yep. When I was a hospital nurse, that’s how we knew someone died —— “Look at that! Those lice are crawling right across that pillow! Oh.my gosh! That must mean this patient lying here is dead!!!” ;D
(Sorry. Couldn’t help myself -— it’s been years since I got to use my gallows humor).
Stole my thunder. lol
But I was going to write:
Well, it’s the Russians, of course. Clearly we can’t have them harvesting lice votes. “Marika knows sometingk. Ve have vays of makingk her tolk,” said an FBI spokeswoman.
Or,
FBI: “Looking for love in all the wrong places”
Wouldn’t a flat line on the monitor been your first clue?
Lafayette is a nice town, yes. But the big big money is Palo Alto and its suburbs ( including Los Altos to some degree, where this life emporium was located). This is an hour away from Lafayette
Not all patients are on a monitor. On my unit, we used our nursing skills to assess patients. But even a non-medical person can usually tell when someone’s dead.
But its especially odd in Palo Alto suburban area of $3,000,090 homes.Maybe not so odd for East Palo Alto.
If the patient does not have that equipment where the beeping stops et cetera.
Hopefully they don’t use the monkey/Vietnamese method of picking out the lice and eating them (how else can they get rid of them after picking them out of your hair?)
