I guess the French gave up their guns. Not sure when they did that, but it’s obvious that their government doesn’t fear them.

If the citizenry were armed, the government’s response would be much more muted.

The “Yellows Vests” could be anyone on the political scale. Fake news doesn’t have to hold a set political choice.
