N.J. lawmakers push to allow undocumented immigrants to get driver's licenses

Undocumented immigrants are already driving on New Jersey's roads, so why not give them a chance to get a driver's license so they can insure and register their vehicles?

That's the viewpoint of a handful of state legislators who on Tuesday announced they have introduced a bill that would let undocumented immigrants apply for a license. They argue it'll make the state's roadways safer for everybody and support the Garden State economy.

"We can't ignore the reality that undocumented immigrants are on the roads now, going to work, driving their children to school and doing the routine activities that all families do," said state Sen. Joseph Vitale, one of the bill's sponsors.

"If they don't have a driver's license, don't have insurance and are driving a vehicle that isn't registered, it creates a hazard on the road," Vitale, D-Middlesex, said.

Which is exactly why things have reached the level where you should DEPORT them.

Add Utah to that list. They’ve been handing out “driving privilege” cards to illegals for a number of years. Goes really well with their motor voter and vote by mail initiatives.

“CRIMINAL, ILLEGAL ALIENS”

Just being here without lawful status is not a crime.

Aliens crossing the border not at an entry point as from Tijuana are criminals.

The tear-gased woman is a criminal.

“going to work, driving their children to school and doing the routine activities that all families do”

They’re daily lawbreakers in other words.

What a fine bunch of future Democrats.

If your once-legal Green Card has expired, and you stay without legally renewing it, you are committing a crime. There are many more such examples of unlawful status..

Doesn’t this interfere with the federal responsibility of controlling immigration?

Should be interesting - wonder if they’ll have to present a birth certificate, valid passport, and DD214 the way I did to renew my sixty-year-old license last June? - naw - that’d be too inconvenient for them - undue burden and all that stuff......

NJ SLOW progress on Real ID was good to get an extension. Best issue old ones to ilegals before then

Will not specify where they are lacking nor why not complete after plenty extensions. Nor improvements that allowed extension.

The Dems got this passed in California got this passed here by overcoming the voting registration issue by having the “illegals” license marked to identify the possessor as a non citizen. Two or so years later and you cannot tell a US citizen’s license from an illegals as any such markings were no longer used.

It’s a trap!

Rather it’s a ruse to get illegals an ID they can use to register to vote. California is blue in large part (besides ballot box stuffing in the various ghetto cities) because of the ~5M illegals who vote.

Actually Jersey’s requirements seem more detailed than NY’s - with their point system and so many required documents for each point and all - after going through the process for twenty years or so by now you’d think we would have gotten to the point of having the “Real ID” for federal recognition finally in effect, but apparently not. I took so many documents along this year just in case one or two might not be recognized that even though I didn’t have to use it, when the clerk saw that I had brought my DD214 she asked to see it and then added my veteran’s status to the license - have to take back a few of the nasty things I’ve said about the DMV over the years.....

If Jersey has, or will have a DMV Motor Voter law, most of the new license holders will automatically be registered to vote. The California DMV Motor Voter fraud goes event beyond the Driver License, to the California I.D. In my work all of my clients are developmentally disabled; some have 2 or 3 challenges. Recently a client who has a lower than not IQ was at the DMV to renew her I. D. They INSISTED that she register to vote. The parents that were right beside her could not stop the DMV clerk from registering my client to vote. As to which ‘party’, well, one can easily guess. So... just how many times have my clients, and hundreds of thousands of other clients, ‘voted’ in California? I grew up in California, and enough family are still here, so I may stay and continue to tell all who will listen about the land of Ronald Reagan, when character was king.
