I just got back from the AZ International Car Show.
GM had nothing worthwhile to look at in the reasonably priced cars.
Ford and Chrysler were the same.
Hyandi has grabbed that entire market with better cars and better quality.
How big of a market is there for 700hp cars?
The NA referred to is in Canada where all of the jobs will be lost.
I read an earlier article that said these GM
jobs were in CANADA. This one says North America. Lol
"It just hasn't been done correctly yet. It'll work this time." - every Demonrat ever
Ditto. Government Motors is going to go out of business. Good riddance.
"What's good for General Motors is good for the USA Government and Big Labor Unions!" - Charles E. Wilson (Chairman, 1953-1957)
There. I fixed it for Old Charlie.
Let me tell you something about department managers in manufacturing plants. Each manager wants to build an empire and will threaten, hassle or bribe the human relations manager to add mid-managers and more personnel to his department. A weak HR guy will give into the pressure. The cost of additional personnel increases the cost of doing business and soon the company is no longer competitive.
So a grand strategy is received from corporate Hq to lay off people. Now if you lay off too many hourly personnel you go out of business. No one to do the work. Who gets laid off? Right, those mid-managers and others hired to make the department manager look good. CEO’s need to hire only tough Human Resource managers who will keep the company goal of making a profit in the forefront and make your company lean and mean when it comes to the organizational chart.
Focus more on autonomous and electric vehicles ,did the Dems tell GM they plan a Law to make people buy this crap
Define “North America”. Most Morons reading this will think it means The United States, thus making it Trump’s fault.
The market is practically collapsing for anything but trucks and SUV’s for domestically based manufacturers. Fiat-Chrysler has already announced that they were abandoning the small and midsize car market in the US, so has Ford for all but Mustang, now comes GM. I don’t particularly like the idea of nothing but trucks and SUV’s on the road, I like well-handling cars personally. No doubt this is a repercussion from millennials’ noted lack of interest in driving. Maybe the economy turning around and their getting decent job will turn the situation around. I hope so. Buick in particular was really starting to get their product line looking good, the Cascada convertible, the Regal and the Lacrosse are all very nice looking and apparently well-constructed cars.
They were dead to me long before that... made the mistake of buying one of their cars once.... ONCE.... never again... and that was LONG LONG before the BK....
autonomous cars sound like more prog scat. Urban delivery vehicles sound promising. Over the road vehicles will have to proven safer than those with a driver to be economically viable (factor in insurance and liability case costs).
My 2013 Buick Verano is pretty much bullet proof.
Simple economics. All three U.S. manufacturers are moving away from cars, where the profit margin isn't high enough for their liking, to small trucks and SUVs where the demand is high and their prices are tariff protected.
Their cars and all the others are way overpriced and no one can afford to buy new. I haven’t bought a new vehicle since 2004.
And like you GM/Chrysler took the government bailout so I am not interested in anything they offer. They made no significant changes and have lived off the government money for now, but the UAW is slowly strangling them along with poor management decisions.
In 2008 GM and Chrysler could have took chapter 11 bankruptcy and reorganized and tore up their UAW contracts or renegotiated them for the real world. Nope, the UAW needs a bailout GWB/Obumbler.
some MSM is trying to push the electric car nonsense, but this is the real story:
- In October, almost 65 percent of new vehicles sold in the U.S. were trucks or SUVs. That figure was about 50 percent cars just five years ago. -
- some U.S. factory workers could transfer to truck or SUV factories that are increasing production -
