Damn the Soviets and their methods. They presided over a slaughter much, much larger than the Holocaust and a system of camps every bit as horrific as the concentration camps. If the war against Nazism was a great crusade, as indeed it was, the only logical next step would have been to follow Pattons advice and destroy the even greater monster.
Instead the Soviets were left to soil the world. They said they would destroy the United States from within, and look at our country...They did.
Unfortunately the civilian population had no stomach for more war. At the time of Bastogne the manufacturers in the U.S. were lobbying to step down from war production.
And then the Soviets had the numbers on us. They believed “numbers have a quality of their own”.
They had 11.5 million troops facing 4.5 million troops of the rest of the allies combined.
They also had superior numbers of armor and artillery.
Sorry, but they had the numbers.
