Companies say contributions made before lynching comments became public; law makes that unlikely
Half a dozen corporations have asked Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith to reimburse their contributions to her runoff campaign.
The companies have been under intense scrutiny in recent days for their financial support of the senator in the wake of her remark that she would be on the front row of a public hanging at a campaign stop earlier this month. The NAACP has said her comments evoke Mississippis bloody history of lynchings.
The video has drawn new attention to her runoff race against Democratic challenger and former U.S. agriculture secretary Mike Espy, who is black.

“...but because she’s running as a Republican she will do whatever President Trump and/or Boss Hogg Barbour tell her to do.”
She may well dance for Barbour, but I am less sure about The President!
I think Cindy should accuse these donors of being "Indian Givers". - Tom
She’ll be a reliable vote for judges, and for defense spending. As for cutting government, expect her to be to the left of Maduro.
Only an idiot would think helping elect Mike Espy, a card-carrying member of Clinton Incorporated, would do ANYTHING but hurt the Trump Agenda. If you’re really that dumb... you’re beyond hope.
This is why I think we should not longer support tax cuts and subsidies and what not for the corporate wing of our party until they change their ways.
The indy is not in the runoff, and his 100k votes or whatever it was should make the difference, but I sense a Todd Akin moment coming on.
Cochran we understand from afar was over the hill. What was the problem with McDaniels ?....wouldn't play ball with Mitch ?
Thank god the run0ff is next week. She (we) could be ruined if given more time.
No, not planned, not a conspiracy. Republicans can be stupid. Especially Republican politicians. We should accept that.
Well said (say “Hi” to Niles and Daphne for me if you ever see them again).....
I'm fully aware of that, House, and I was bummed when that cr@p was pulled.
But we have to stop letting ego get in the way of Senate seat wins. See: Roy Moore.
Time for a grown-up conversation about the KKKrat tactics when it comes to the 50 US Senate seats, the 2,000-3,000 Federal judge seats andthe 5 Supreme Court seats.
The KKKrats always have a plan, and they act in unison, while we play the "herd of cats" movie over and over.
Not saying it’s a conspiracy. Just saying there are too many “fumbles in the end zone” for my comfort.
They would much rather deal with a democrat than a conservative.
Correct. That is the core issue. The progressive wing of the GOP prefers Democrats to conservatives. Mitt Romney voted for his wife knowing that could mean a Hillary Criminal SCOTUS. Senator Shelby successfully campaigned for a Democrat.
These progressive corportist Republicans would like Trump to lose and conservatives to leave the party so they can carry on with plans for a North American Union. It’s that simple.

Please dont give this Senator that idea. She might actually do that and there goes the Mississippi Choctaw vote. ;-)
“Why would any thinking person believe that shed make a good Republican Senator except maybe Haley Barbour.”
This isn’t the primary. This is the general election. Her, or a black liberal who will help block EVERYTHING. Half a loaf, or a plate of poison.
And just what has she said or done that is horrible? NOTHING!
Are you really that old to know what that expression means?
That is something right out of the 1930s and 1940s.- Tom

Her comments were being discussed on several of the Fox News shows today. She just isn’t temperate with her remarks, and her opponent is gaining on her as a result. Now Trump is going to MS to hold a rally for her because he needs that seat. She has f*cked up her chances and is forcing The President to salvage what should have been a walk away. You just have to wonder what the politics were that caused her to be appointed in the first place. It will be a disaster if MS delivers another RAT to the Senate after the whole debacle next door in Alabama.
” Republicans can be stupid.”
NO! Republican office holders ARE stupid! They are born absent a backbone and the one’s that have male genitalia are prone to stepping on them repeatedly.
Hey, Intolerant, thanks for the comment and I shall say Hi to my very dear friends, who always make me laugh when I’m feeling low.
And we were from NJ, but we escaped...too many greedy teachers, who make it tough for the good ones.
No one ever said anything about lynching. Quit spreading MSM lies.
Pure Rollcall bullshit. What Sen. Hyde-Smith said was that she’d support the man to whom she was speaking even at a public lynching or words to that effect.
So when Eric Holder advocated Nazi-Like attacks on Republicans/Conservatives with “when they go low, you kick them”, as the Germans did to their Jews on the streets of Germany in the 1930’s, he wasn’t an “anti-Semite” but just making an imaginative quip.
Rollcall had become a degenerative paper (now I’ll be called a Nazi because I used the word “degenerative” which is what Hitler called some forms of art).
I think my slain family in Lvov/Belzec and Auschwitz would disagree with them, from experience.
By the way, “Rollcall” is what the SS guards did to their prisoners in slave-labor and concentration camps. Can I call Rollcall a crypto-fascist newspaper? Two can play this game and this Jewish Homey “is good at it”.
