And it may be worse than that.
It could well look like the post-Watergate 1974 and 1976 elections combined. From Wikipedia:
1974 House: This scandal (Watergate, Nixon resignation), along with high inflation, allowed the Democrats to make large gains in the midterm elections, taking 49 seats from the Republicans and increasing their majority above the two-thirds mark. 291-144.I have zero doubt that this is what the plan is. It's pretty obvious, and it's a pretty good plan.
1974 Senate: Democrats made a net gain of three seats from the Republicans. This pushed their total to 60, which was increased to 61 following a special election in 1975.
In 1976: the Dems increased their huge House margin by one seat to 292-143 and their Senate margin remained at 61-39.
Jimmy Carter won the Presidency with 297 electoral votes.
A lot of Americans fell for the "Orange Man Bad" narrative, else how can we explain the roughly 40 seat House loss that the GOP just suffered?
This despite great economic conditions, a stock market that was doing pretty well, super low unemloyment, and a foreign policy that has not included any new wars or crisis.
Still the relentless media narrative that Trump is bad, Trump is corrupt, the Russians stole the election -- it seems to have paid off.
Imagine what the same partisan media can do with actual indictments of Trump, his family or an impeachment proceeding in the House.
This is why I have always felt that Trump must fight fire with fire and indict many former Obama officials, as many as possible. And Hillary.
(I would personally spare Obama unless absolutely compelling evidence of a high-crime is found, but that's just me. My reading suggests that jailing former heads of states makes transition to dictatorship far more likely, as the cost of leaving office when you lose an election goes up exponentially I put the orderly transition of power as an extremely important function of our system, which should not be endangered except for the most incredible set of facts.)
I have heard that 45 Republican members of congress retired. If they had stuck around, most of them would have retained their seats and they would still be in control.
I wish Trump had called them in for a pep talk, urging them to hang in there for another term.
Those numbers are astonishing, but I would take the 1974/1976 Democrat super majorities over their slim majority in the House today. Back then there many, many Blue Dog Democrats who were conservative and loved the country. Today's Democratic Party is 100% Marxist and actively subverting the US Constitution.
In the most recent case that Judicial Watch brought against the gov in Hillary’s email case was argued in court a few weeks ago.
Guess who argued FOR Hillary....her lawyer AND A DOJ LAWYER!
That’s right, President Trump’s DOJ is in court defending Hillary, not prosecuting her!!!!!!!!!
