Trump on Acosta Returning to White House: If He Misbehaves, Well Throw Him Out
BY: Aryssa Damron November 16, 2018 3:40 pm
In an exclusive interview with "Fox News Sunday" that will air this weekend, President Donald Trump responded to the temporary reinstatement of CNN correspondent Jim Acosta's press pass and told Chris Wallace, "if he misbehaves, we'll throw him out."
When asked about the judge's ruling that the White House must reinstate Acosta's press pass, Trump said the White House is establishing rules of decorum, but if Acosta violates them, he'll be back out.
"Yeah, its fine. I mean, its not a big deal," Trump told Wallace. "What they said though is that we have to create rules and regulations for conduct, etc., etc. Were doing that. We're going to write them up right now. Its not a big deal. And if he misbehaves, well throw him out, or well stop the news conference."
The White House revoked Acosta's press pass in response to his antics at a press conference last week, as the Free Beacon previously reported.

Hopefully, and for the last time, please note there aren't any 1A privileges being affirmed. That is, the so-called "press" doesn't have a right to an audience with the president. So, in that way, there isn't any violation of the separation of powers. That is, the court cannot order Trump to hold press conferences nor hold them with certain organizations and/or individuals.
Rather, the court ruled on 5A due process. This is because Trump honored pre-existing access held by certain "press" organizations and individuals. Once that precedent was established, and even more importantly, became a critical and valuable asset to the holders for purposes of providing commercial news services with relevant content, then one cannot unilaterally revoke those "rights" without some kind of established procedures. In other words, a 5A due process ruling.
The easy solution, and the trap CNN/Acosta walked into, much to the chagrin of the other MSM outlets, is that Trump can now establish terms and conditions, and set specific rules of behavior, codes of conduct, and penalties for violations. Also, ALSO, there isn't any requirement that only certain new organizations will be allowed to have press passes. Rather, Trump could create an application portal where any citizen reporter can apply for a pass.
Once this system is in place, say goodbye to long held cozy relationships. Instead, say hello to lotteries to assign limited seating, along with firm affirmations of said stipulated requirements. Think of the long contract in fine print on the back of your theater/sports arena ticket. They hold all the reservations, and you, the holder are required to follow their rules. Further, they grant you no kind of common law rights other than the narrow, specific time frame allowed.
Trump takes this game, set & match. Gotta wonder if they knew exactly what they were doing when they anticipated the judge's ruling.
Leave a new diaper on his chair every day. Or switch it up and leave a rattle or a rubber nipple or some other toddler or baby thing.
Get some stickers with pictures made of these items instead and stick them on his chair daily.
Make sure the camera films them for posterity and make a YouTube video compilation.
I think that is a mistake. I still wouldn’t let him in. Acceding to the judge’s ruling is effectively relenquishing control to judges. I still maintain it is a WH location, WH briefing, WH issued credentials... I think it is 100% at the discretion of the WH who is allowed in and who is not.
Acosta will assume that he and Trump now have a ‘special’ relationship and that they are “okay” now; almost like buddies. Jim, have I got news for you!...HEADLINE: Don’t push (press) your luck.
I really want to see the Secret Service tase this idiot, that would be comedy gold
Unfortunately the Constitution is not selective. It has to be all of them or none of them. It’s the same in most states for a business. You cannot deny access because as long as your open sign is on it is public property. You can “refuse service” if it is posted, but they can stay if they like as long as the business is “open to the public”.
You cannot have anyone thrown out or charged with trespass until you completely close the business to the public as a whole. Then it becomes private property again and you can remove or charge trespassers. I learned this with my own business.
Unfortunately Trump is in the same type of position here, it has to be all of them or none of them. Best thing he could do is just shut it down and close it up every time Acosta is out of line. It won’t be long and the other networks will be suing CNN because they keep messing everything up and getting EVERYONE kicked out.
Acosta would get fired and not be able to get a job ANYWHERE after just a couple of these conference shut downs. Respect will start to be the normal again.
He should have made it clear that CNN was free to find another correspondent who would behave themselves.
+1
He misbehaved and was thrown out. Why does he get a do over? Appeal to the higher court.
I totally agree with everything you said. I do get so sick and tired of many on this thread who are so quick to demean Trump. WHEN are they ever going to learn that out president DOES NOT throw in the towel?
I would have litigated to the end...

our president is NOT going to waste the taxpayer’s money on a frivolous idiot from CNN. “He who laughs last laughs best” and my money is on Trump!
Trump, WTF? Just pull the plug on the damned WH media briefings. They’re useless. Set the script when you have something to say, and invite selected members of the media.
Either stop the briefings (preferred) or basically tell the judge to “go ahead and enforce” his decision. Challenge him. You’re the Chief Freakin’ Executive - don’t get pushed around by a judge. Tell him to go back to his branch of government - and carry on.
Damn, this backtracking is so un-Trumpian.
Please Mister President ... Twitter makes press conferences obsolete.
The dude will just scream something out anyway he won’t care if he’s called on or not.
This is an epic mistake. Trump should have ignored this ruling. It’s illegal.
If I were a reporter in DC, I would go to this very judges trials and periodically stand and ask questions of the judge directly. Id repeat it and demand answers. When he threatened to have me removed or thrown in jail for contempt, I would reject it loudly by describing how he personally just required the POTUS to extend due process. Imprisoning me today is hardly due process. I would definitely want to make the judge play by the identical rules he established for another independent branch of government.
Just seat him on the back row of the press room...
Never call on him or make him the last question of the day...
That’s ridiculous. The White House revoked the press credentials of an individual, not a class.
Stupid ruling should be appealed or ignored.
He should be arrested for disorderly conduct. Make him sit in the back. Put the SS and police right behind him. Don’t take his questions. Treat him like sh.t.
Yep - don’t call on him or any CNN person...then, the second he gets obnoxious, stop the presser so nobody gets to ask questions...before long his peers will be pressuring him and CNN to cease and desist....especially if, somehow, Fox folks end up with extra tidbits nobody else has been privy to....
