I consider the cell phone flashlight almost worthless. I have a FENIX flashlight and headlamp. Bright enough to light a stadium.
Yes, a good LED “headlamp” is a GREAT tool. Some of the adjustable focus models can throw a heck of a beam. And if you need less, but still MUCH better than a phone flashlight, you can buy ‘em cheap enough to not worry if you lose it or break it. I also have a single AAA LED flashlight with adjustable focus that really works well when you want something small, but still surprisingly bright. It’s main disadvantage is short battery life, but it’s still ok for an hour or so — good enough for most anything I need it for.
Granted that a phone flashlight is occasionally handy, but I don’t have one & don’t miss it. My wife’s smart phone DOES have many useful features, but it drops out a lot in rural areas. My daughter is addicted to hers - not good!
