With the European parliamentary elections just six months away, polls by Ifop and Odoxa show Le Pens National Rally in a dead heat with Macrons centrist Republic on the Move party, each with around 20 percent of the intended vote.
"There is growing discontent over high taxes, rising fuel prices and controversial reforms. Macrons popularity has reached record lows, Nona Mayer, research director of the French National Centre for Scientific Research, told FRANCE 24.
Since taking office in May 2017, Macrons approval ratings have steadily plummeted to between 20 and 25 percent. His image has been hurt by a number of public gaffes, as well as accusations that he is a president of the rich whose policy directly benefits the countrys wealthy elite.
In the most recent sign of Macrons growing unpopularity, a group of angry drivers known as the yellow vest movement have called for roads to be blocked nationwide on Saturday in protest against his governments decision last year to increase a direct tax on diesel fuel. The demonstrations have played directly into the hands of Le Pen, whose National Rally has a reputation as an anti-establishment party.
People dont care about (her legal and political troubles) because her party, at a time the mainstream left and right have collapsed, seems for many the only channel left to express their discontent. Voter intention is up, even though her popularity is down, she added.
Shes at an advantage because were in a situation where theres a lot of fear of immigration and terrorism, Mayer said. Immigration is at the core of Marine Le Pens platform.
Mayer went on to argue that in some ways, Le Pens resurgence in the polls has less to do with her than with the overall political climate in France.

the future of France is*
Le Pen’s polls have looked good in other elections, but in the past, when the voters actually go to the polls, the votes don’t reflect it. Hopefully this time it will be different.
Way too late for France and most of western Europe.
They have already let in their future and it is Islam.
They will submit or die.
That is Islam.
It’s because there has been a stigma, and rightfully so, surrounding the National Front party and it founder, Jean Marie-Le Pen. He is notorious for advocating denialism regarding the Holocaust. (Hence Marion Marechal’s attempts to rebrand the party moving forward and changing her name.)
France has a notorious anti-Semitism problem in general...it’s one of the things holding the country back from renewal. This preceded the Islam/migrant crisis.
It’d be nice if LePen could win and turn France around, but I think it’s too late for them and the rest of Europe. By the time there’s the requisite level of political will among native French to stop destroying their culture through immigration, they’ll be outnumbered by “French” citizens. Multiculturalism is colonialism by any other name.
Macaroni is still paying Palies beaucoup money to prop them up so they can continue paying terrorists to kill Israelis.
I think we should pull 25 percent of our troops out of Europe and put them on our Mexican border. We may not be getting money for the wall but we have money for our Armed Forces to guard the border.
I remember when France was trying to stop American programming on their TV because they didn’t want their culture destroyed. And now they have destroyed it themselves by the Muzzie invasion. I have a friend who went to see the church in St. Denis, renowned as the magnificent church where so many French Kings were crowned, and ended up fearing for their lives. The church is right in the middle of the Muslim invasion, surrounded by falafel shops, and women in burkas. The only fortunate thing was the Metro was right across the street so they could make a quick escape.
You know, this wasn’t the first time France or Europe was invaded by the Muslim hordes. Don’t forget the Crusades. And the Muslims were ultimately driven out. Make no mistake, it may take a little while, but nationalism will have a massive resurgence, enough to drive the Muslims out, and hopefully purge the leftists as well. While they’re at it, they might as well restore the monarchy. It is ultimately better that way.
