The Florida Secretary of State was Katherine Harris (R) who did not recuse herself. In all honesty, I don’t know if she could have as only she had the legal authority to do those duties as an elected official thus not assignable to an unelected deputy.
On the other hand, also in that Florida Cabinet for this circus, was the Democrat Attorney General Bob Butterworth, a staunch Gore advocate. Add to this that the FL Supreme Court of that time was heavily Democrat due to a long string of prior Democrat Governors.
As far as anyone ‘asking’ the sister, Judge Leslie Abrams, to withdraw, I’m not in GA so I have no idea. I do know that there is a professional code of ethics that would seem to have her make that decision on her own.
This Georgia situation is pathetic.
