You have to understand: the Nazi-loving socialists had to explain why THEIR socialism was different from National Socialism (Nazism). It must be the NATIONALISM that’s bad!

Third verse of La Marseillaise

Verse 3:

What! These foreign troops
Would make laws in our home!
What! These mercenary phalanxes
Would bring down our proud warriors! (repeat)
Good Lord! By chained hands
Our brows would bend beneath the yoke!
Vile despots would become
The masters of our fate!

Hey, Macron! Why don’t you just call your cycling circus “Le Tour de Whatever.”

Trump is driving all the conversation in the world. He brings up nationalism, and suddenly it is the most heinous concept in the world. Would Macron have mentioned the word, but for Trump bringing it up? If there had been no U.S.S.R, Britain, and American nations in the 30’s, France would be a suburb of Germany, and Macron wouldn’t have to bother despising the idea of nationalism today because he wouldn’t be the leader of one.

He lamented that the spirit of revenge and humiliation after World War I sparked renewed nationalism that led to World War II.

The League of Nations that Macron is so quick to praise was responsible for the animosity that followed after WWI. The League of Nations was supposed to enforce the treaty of Versailles, but Germany and the Soviet Union were initially excluded and made their own arrangements. The enormous debt imposed on Germany forced the downfall of the Weimar Republic, with eventual replacement by ultra-nationalist and socialist Hitler. And our own socialist president at home, Wilson, failed to gain support in the senate, so the US never entered the League of Nations. Then of course everyone disarmed and Hitler was able to rebuild the German military. This is a simplistic summation but it's attitudes like those held by the weak leader Macron that lead to war in the first place.

Thanks for the definitions.

I suppose I am both a nationalist and a patriot, because I don’t think all cultures are created equal, and our culture is better than any I can think of, being a culture that emphasizes individual, inalienable rights that come from God, with limited government. We do not, and never have been “subjects” of a king, with rights being granted to us by whim from a king (sorry England, that’s you, and your commonwealth nations).

The socialists in our midst want the state to dictate our rights based sometimes on the whims of the judiciary, and sometimes on the executive branch’s whim, and sometimes on misinterpretations of the Constitution (i.e.. the notion of a “living document”).

Obama famously criticized the Constitution, saying he was frustrated because it is a charter of negative liberties, specifying what the government can not do, versus the preferred model of telling us what the government must do on our behalf.

Obama was neither a nationalist or a patriot; Trump is both.

It is obvious that President Trump always means that he is a patriotic nationalist.

That’s what I am.

Macron is lacking in so many ways.

It is so charming and so French the way he schmoozes Angela Merkle.

Almost as nauseating as the libs in this country.

It’s ironic that Macron is so weak, when the French natioal moto is Liberty, Equality, Fraternity (”Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité”).

With a different leader that motto could be the basis for something wonderful — after all the French gave us the Stature of Liberty.

But sadly the entire European continent (and the UK) seems emasculated, and alarmingly sharia-compliant while simultaneously lacking self-awareness.

Soon there will be no Jews left there. They learned their lesson in the last century — now their motto is “Never Again”.
