they believed in a one-world government that would grow out of the United Nations. I was nonplussed as I had never heard anyone suggest that idea before.

"it is essential for UNESCO to adopt an evolutionary approach... the general philosophy of UNESCO should, it seems, be a scientific world humanism, global in extent, and evolutionary in background... "

Sir Julian Sorell Huxley FRS was a British evolutionary biologist, eugenicist, and internationalist. He was a proponent of natural selection, and a leading figure in the mid-twentieth century modern synthesis. He was the first Director of UNESCO and the first President of the British Humanist Association.

Good reference. I’ll study more on him later. Here’s a couple of money-quotes right off:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Julian_Huxley

[ Huxley wrote that “There is no separate supernatural realm: all phenomena are part of one natural process of evolution. There is no basic cleavage between science and religion;… I believe that [a] drastic reorganization of our pattern of religious thought is now becoming necessary, from a god-centered to an evolutionary-centered pattern”.[76] ]

[ In 1959 he received a Special Award of the Lasker Foundation in the category Planned Parenthood – World Population. Huxley was a prominent member of the British Eugenics Society and was its president from 1959–1962. ]
