I lived in a pretty red state for a while where there was this crazy state legislator who kept trying to defeat Republicans who weren’t pure enough for him. In an interview, he said he would rather have 35 “real” conservatives in the state legislature (meaning the Dems would have a super-majority) than be in the majority with impure Republicans.
It’s seriously some sort of sick political masturbation or something. I don’t get it.
Yep, I went at it with a guy in the middle of Virginia a couple of years ago. The Republican there wasn’t pure enough for him, so he sat out the governor election, and the Dem won...now Virginia is BRIGHT RED. NO!!! Not even close...all he accomplished was adding to the mandate of the Democrats in that state - Democrats who immediately opened up voting to felons and others.
...and this guy is otherwise a good FReeper...very sad.
