Where have millennial men gone? Updated 20 hours ago
Millennial males have been dropping out of the U.S. workforce faster than any other age and gender demographic. Half a million more men aged 25 to 34 would be working now if, like women and some other groups, their participation had returned to pre-crisis levels or better, Bureau of Labor statistics show. Reasons include increased rates of school and training, as well as disability and illness. Other factors feeding into the phenomenon:
*Fewer high-paying manufacturing and mining jobs *More young adults living at home *Better video games *Increased opioid use

That picture was a crime against humanity!
Understand and appreciate where you are coming from. I have a son who is your age and doesn’t fall into that pit, either. Glad to report that many of his friends would be guys you would be proud to hang out with.
That said, I am also disgusted and embarrassed with many of my fellow “Baby Boomers”.
We are surrounded by shitheads, at times.
There are tons of jobs and some can be part-time if a guy doesn’t want to work full regular hours.
From what we can see, the unemployment is mostly due to...
1. free money from the taxpayers, welfare and all kinds of additional benefits for people who are in good health and could work
2. better video games
3. some parents who actually let their adult “kids” stay and mooch at home
Some hot tiny girl kicks every guy's as$.
That’s a big reason.
Another one is how many have grown up without any Male influence in their lives.
They literally don’t know how to be men.
The problem IMO has much to do with excessive spoiling. There’s nothing I dislike more than a parent or grandparent saying “I’m gonna spoil him rotten”, as the end result will be a spoiled young adult that has no respect for others, no life’s skills, no ambition. All they want is gimme gimme now now while they endlessly stay and home. They have zero incentive to work.
This crap started with the greatest generation wanting things better for their kids which gave us the culture we have today.
As a result they are ripe for socialism, as the Occasional-Cortex politicians tell them exactly what they want to hear. Hence yet a new problem, is that they are both too lazy and too stupid to even vote socialist.
Yep, expectations are important, I agree. There were expectations that we would become adults and take charge of our lives.
I too was welcome to live at home but had to pay rent as I was working.
A friend of mine had tough parents. At first he was unemployed. But his parents told him he had to be out of the house Monday through Friday looking for work. So his “job” for a period of time, was spending weekdays going to employment agencies, going places to fill out job applications, and going on job interviews.
And that’s what he did till he found a job.
Parents such as those are doing their adult children a favor in the long run. Now those were clear expectations.
And of course not all, but the vast majority of young American women today are the very last thing any sane man would want to be tied to.
So instead, young men go out and enjoy life on their own terms. This takes a surprisingly low amount of money. It’s a good coping mechanism for the society we have built.
In my travels to my nearest Walmart there are always a gaggle of 20 somethings riding skateboards or bicycles, bumming cigs or change and many with the look of long term meth attachment.
Those still living at home haven’t had a strong father figure to set them on their own path. Many households are headed by a Mother and she’s not going to set them straight.
Are there any “Millennial Men”? Millennial males I can understand, but Millennial Men? That is a horse of a different color.
Well said!
Single men dont need a ton of money to get by. Some are fine with living in a outfitted RV, running a business out of it while they travel.
Who needs a 9 to 5 other than guys that have a wife they have to impress and kids to take care of?
” Yeah, the poor victim men. The women have beat them down and they can’t stand up for themselves.”
By any chance do you enjoy pink knitted hats?

Men blaming feminism and not taking responsibility for their part in it by capitulating and going along with it all, only reinforces the stereotype of men by feminism as being weak and not worthy of respect.
Men playing the victim card also does the same thing.
*It’s all the fault of feminism*, is whining and blame shifting.
No, it’s not all *feminism’s* fault.
Men didn’t need to own the victimhood.
“Men blaming feminism and not taking responsibility for their part in it”
What part did men take part in?
Feminism is what gave us the #MeToo movement. en are being falsely accused all over the place and having their lives ruined, and some are doing hard time.
Feminist-inspired quotas in colleges and workplaces are pushing qualified men out of their fields.
Now tell me how your “just be a more of a manly men” is supposed to deal with that. Or do you think those two examples are just “whining” too?
My son is doing this and I really can’t blame him for it.
I’m his mother, BTW.
Feminism ruined society, IMO.
The problem is that almost all the part-time jobs want exactly the same “prime time” daylight work hours, and you can only be in one place at one time.
I tried looking for one to supplement my full time job and ran face first into this.
Someone who doesn’t want to be 1 step away from having no home or car when there’s the inevitable hospital bill, mechanical breakdown or period of unemployment.
