While Bulger was guilty of crimes that he deserved to die for, it was a pretty hollow victory for whoever killed him in prison (assuming that’s what happened). According to many accounts, Bulger’s dementia was such that he didn’t even know where he was or why most of the time.

According to TMZ, Bulger was beaten to death and several inmates had attempted to gouge his eyes out with a shiv. Sources told WCVB that Bulger was killed; the Hazelton prison confirmed that a homicide had taken place there the morning of Bulger’s death (the third homicide in a 40-day span) but did not confirm Bulger was the victim.
