Trump could stop this NOW without firing a shot.
He needs to do 2 things.

1) Close the US-Mexico border to ALL traffic (including commercial traffic). Only US Citizens with passports will be allowed to enter on-foot.

2) Suspend ALL wire transfers of money to Mexico.

Once the Mexican elites feel us standing on their economic air hose, the caravan will be turned around.

Totally agree. Maximum economic pressure on Mexico. Until they feel some serious financial pain, nothing is going to change. The reality is they have no incentive to do what we want. We have to change that mindset and force an attitude adjustment. The caravan would be forced back within 24 hours.

I say a 25% to 33% tariff on all transfers to Mexico. Immediately and all money goes to fund the wall.

Bet that will get the attention of a few. And use that money to put Americans to work down there.

Thats the thing we aren't truly taking the security of our southern border seriously - sure there is lots of talk but each day hundreds if not thousands sneak in. If one were very serious about stopping illegal immigration there are some very obvious ways to stop this - it just seems the nation doesn't have the spine to do it. I'm still hoping president Trump does have the spine.

The two items you mentioned would do it. Telling mexico the new nafta deal is dead until they start taking our border seriously would do it. Then there is shooting those who attempt to sneak in. Those are solutions short of a wall that will stop this.

This is one of the big reasons we voted for Mr. Trump. This is why he jumped to head of the pack and stayed there in the 2016 campaign IMHO.

I know I'm in a bad mood today but stop dickin around and do what it takes to secure the border - yesterday. Putting troops on the border who can't use weapons and lethal force seems like we're the UN all of sudden. I'm not sure that is the case but I'd be willing to bet the military can't shoot the invaders because of some dumb ass reason.

People south of the border need to understand sneaking in the US is a good way to end up dead.

Also whats the crap about US having to follow the our laws about them needing to be processed if they get a foot on American soil. The law isn't a suicide pact invaders get to use against this nation. Cross that line and end up dead men women and children no exceptions - that would solve the problem.

It’s not just Mexico - it’s all the countries profitting from illegals coming, working in whatever capacity and sending moneies out of the USA which enable others to keep coming.

I think letting american citizens in at the land border will put all american citizens south of the border at risk. i will be watching for a state department bulletin advising temporary evacuation of all us citizens from mexico.

usa and other snowbird ex-pats and tourists would be hard hit (but whatever).
