800 is a joke. There should be at least 2 troops for every invader.

If you put too few troops then the potential that they will have to use deadly force to defend themselves increases exponentially.

The mob could attack the troops with rocks or bottles or even bullets and if the troops fire back it will be a propaganda disaster.

Make sure that there is no possibility that the troops will need to use deadly force. The only way to do that is to have an overwhelming number of troops ready to do what is necessary to prevent any invasion.

2 battalions of combat engineers can stop enemy divisions. If these are engineers, I know they can throw up a defensive barrier that is virtually impassable for foot weary, unarmed civilians. Combat engineers have remarkable capabilities if this is what they are and this is what their mission is.

I covered combat engineers once upon a time. I watched them build a cargo plane ready airstrip in hours. I watched them practice blowing holes a dozen feet deep in roads using ad hoc supplies like fertilizer and diesel. When they string concertina, be prepared to get stuck if you don’t have bangalors.

It all is a matter of who are these 800 and what is their mission
