The former acting director of the federal immigration agency suggested Monday that Mexico may be unwilling to stop thousands of Central American migrants from entering its southern border.
"As far as Mexican police not being able, I would say maybe not being able - maybe some unwilling." Thomas Homan, the former head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said in an appearance on Fox News Monday morning.
Homan said that, unlike Mexican law enforcement, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers based at official entry points and Border Patrol agents stationed between ports "won't step aside or step back."
"They will defend this line," Homan added.
Mexico's Foreign Ministry deployed hundreds of federal police and immigration officers to its border with Guatemala last week as a group of primarily Honduran nationals made its way there.
Sadly, it looks like Mexicos Police and Military are unable to stop the Caravan heading to the Southern Border of the United States, Trump wrote on Twitter Monday. Criminals and unknown Middle Easterners are mixed in. I have alerted Border Patrol and Military that this is a National Emergy [sic]. Must change laws!"

The Mexican gov’t knows that by the time the caravan reaches our border it’ll be tens of thousands strong, comprised mostly of their own disgruntled citizens. Good way to get rid of a whole bunch of them en masse, they figure. And then to reap the remittances rewards.
Posted the math on another thread.
That well fed clean non- disheveled mob if only 1000 miles from the border trotting at 4MPH for 24 hours/day would take 10.5 days to reach the US.
7000 people using 1 gallon of water / day would use 73,500 gallons of water while crossing either a desert or jungle while moving at a brisk 4 MPH for 24 hrs/ day for 10.5 days.
Moving at these speeds will burn approximately 100 calories/ hour. meaning they will need approximately 2800 calories/ day.
1 pound of corn has a little over 1500 calories.
1 gallon of water weighs 8.3 pounds.
At two pounds of dried corn, and 1 gallon of water/ day, each person must carry 100 pounds of rations with them (50# if on a starvation march) while trotting 4 MPH for 24 hours/day for 10.5 days.
Someone is assisting thismob. Someone is lying to us...
It’s way overdue to go full Pershing/Punitive Expedition on the border.
As in the tweet, the law is the problem.
Thanks to the treatment of the last caravan, they now know that if overwhelmed, without enough room to hold everyone, they will be released.
If they’re not willing to shoot them before crossing, nor simply setting up more and more circus tents surrounded by chain link fence as they fill (so you can just toss food over like feeding animals), then many will make it through.
I predict that Trump will seal the border if this asinine invasion continues. Whatever it takes, Natl. Guard, Border Patrol and or US Armed Forces can and will be used. There is precedent and law.
10.5 days is perfect.
Folks, what the left is praying for is that someone will open fire on this mob and kill 1000s. They will blame 45, and the sentiment will turn too late to actually get the truth out.
This was their hole card. Their last resort.
An emergency UN meeting needs to be called, and this needs to be hashed out, or Congress will go very blue IMHO.
There will be dead children and mothers on TV everywhere, they wouldn’t hesitate to do it. By the time the truth is out, nobody will believe it.
Finding out who ‘fired the bullet’ that is headed for your head is secondary to stopping/missing the bullet?
Plenty of time for that...
Mexico has never been much on an ally.
The new president of Mexico is a hard core Leftist. He hasn’t taken office yet but I think we’re seeing his influence.
I’m afraid we’re only seeing the beginning of a coming concerted effort.
Process a few a day, after they have been rejected for asylum in Mexico.
I agree. Stop the bullet then find the shooter.
I just looked at the math, and am pointing out that there is no way these “refugees” can walk across Mexico at an unreasonable speed and arrive at our border en masse in an unreasonable amount of time without having a huge logistics problem and major backing from someone.
There is a paper trail that leads back to somewhere.
It would seem to be crucial to make it clear that this is an orchestrated and funded invasion by the left. The media is going to constantly portray this as a humanitarian crisis, playing along with the setup to make Trump look heartless. Sadly, there are millions of clueless Americans who will fall for this scam. If it could be proven that this is a political setup, clearly enough to take away the msm narrative, and force them to portray it as it is, then the whole charade would backfire in a significant way.
Agree 100 percent with Homan. Mexico did not want to stop these illegals and only paid lip service to stopping them. The had them at a choke point at their southern border with only two bridges, yet didn’t stop them. That was an easy place to stop them if they had wanted to.
This is why getting Kavanaugh confirmed was SOOOOOO critical. You can bet that the minute Trump sends troops to the border some doofus Federal circuit judge will try to block it.
By rightly saying that the rabble must apply for asylum in Mexico, Trump does not have to listen to any pleas for asylum. Turn 100% back without crossing the border.
Indeed. With outside help, this is an invasion. With criminals and terrorists mixed in, Trump needs to sign an executive order stating "...clear and present danger".
Get.
It.
Done.
Yes at this point there are likely more mestizos than Hondurans in that caravan. Mexico wants to get rid of all the mestizos so they funnel them to the US. Look at the President of Mexico then look at the short, stocky fireplug casing your open garage.
