While Rand has many good positions when it comes to foreign affairs he’s dead set against most alliances.
I’m actually getting more and more toward that opinion.
HOWEVER...
The USA is a mercantile nation and needs to keep freedom of the seas and air so that no tyrant can cut off our trade and harm us. We need a large Navy and Air Force to keep that crap at bay. Mess with us; you die.
But certainly no—absolutely none—nation building again.
The Saudis have enough money to project their own power without using US troops. I’m fine with that, but no alliance is needed. Just sell them stuff if they have the cash. Same with Israel.
Unless a country has directly challenged or harmed us, why should we prohibit weapons sales to them? Bullets not bodies!
Paul is advocating cutting arms sales to SA and that is just stupid.
Aside from Israel, the majority of the Middle east nations have tribes who will fight each other. However they do not have the "NATIONAL" concept we in the U.S. have and therefore they are not willing to die for their country.
This is the main reason Israel is only worried about Nuclear weapons.
I've been a long-time advocate of "send booms, not boots".
