I don’t carry, but probably should. I will be 62 next month and am regular at the gym. I can bench roughly 250 lbs. I might get my tail kicked by some, but very few big bad dudes could do that to me without at least paying a painful price. If a guy punches me, I WILL get my licks in, and I am not bashful about it.
If a gun is out of the question, May I suggest a nice Cold steel cane sword..personally these days the law comes to toe tag you, when the government can no longer protect it’s citizens or oppresses them that is what the 2nd ammendment is about and surviving an attack means more than what the BS dims will do any day, the law is dead, arm yourselves, more is coming and it will only get worse..the government no longer is able to stomp these things down, thus we see what we have..
Qualified for my LTC last Saturday. Today is fingerprints. As soon as that comes back I am going to pick out my firearm. Was looking a 9mm, but then I fired a .40 and fell in love.

I’m in a similar position, but you have me beat on bench press (for now!). I have trained at a boxing gym as well, and let me tell you, the young ones are quick. Not indestructible, but very quick. I carry everywhere these days. I recommend it.
Never punch. Side kick as hard as you can to the knee cap and break it. Fight over.
