The Mexican government has sent 500 extra federal police to its border with Guatemala in anticipation of their arrival, say documents obtained by NBC News
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is tracking the caravan as the Hondurans make their way north toward the U.S. border. Meanwhile, the State Department is trying to stave off that possibility by compelling the Mexican government to stop them at its border with Guatemala.
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will travel to Mexico to meet with his counterparts on Friday, and plans to stop the caravan will be a "prominent" topic of discussion, a senior State Department official told reporters on Wednesday.
"I am certain that there will be conversations in Mexico about how we can work together on this issue," the official said about the caravan. "We are certainly looking for concrete results and for solutions that work for both countries."

I’ve already mentioned the lack of luggage. Now noticed that it seems like most of them are wearing nice new footwear. Two of the guys in different photos are wearing brand new Crocs. They are being supplied for their invasion.
Mexico better stop this in their country OR Trump will take their funding from them, Federalies in Mexico can handle this better than we can they don’t have the STUPID regulations that we do!!!!
4,000 people - that's about the size of a full US Army infantry brigade composed of 5 battalions.
Think of the logistics of providing for a 4,000 man army on the march for weeks at a time.
That's about 12,000 pounds of food a day for 4,000 people.
That's 42 tons of food a week and this invasion force will be traveling for another 2 or 3 weeks.
It's hot south of the border - they will need at least 4,000 gallons of drinking water a day - maybe more.
That's 16 tons of potable drinking water a day, 110 tons of water a week.
Then the 4,000 have to sleep somewhere each night.
And some will require medical care along the way.
And these invaders will be depositing about 6 tons of poop a day alongside the sidewalks, roads and fields as a gift to the locals.
And what about toilet paper and washing their hands?.
Whatever they wipe with will just be left alongside the road with their feces unless the organizers have arranged for sanitary disposal (highly doubtful).
Are they going to live in the same filthy clothes for the next 2 or 3 weeks until they get a new wardrobe from US taxpayers?
These are not people without means of their own.....I have seen none of them ill dressed or without. Their complaints in interviews is they want to get ahead....that makes them economic migrants....nothing more than they want what we have their country won’t give them.
Unfortunately the internet/cellphones lets all these third world countries see what we’ve fought for and died for they are unwilling to do in their countries. They just think they should be given what we have so they’re coming to get it.
The people marching here don’t give a hoot if Trump stops funding their country......their purpose is to get here and take what they haven’t fought to have in their own country.
Do you really think those marching here care what we think? They never have.....and certainly those organizing and funding these hoards of people have no concerns about what Trump is doing with their leaders......they’re on a mission to be here one way or another.
So far the countries they’re going through are feeding them as they travel through....red cross is assisting also....catholic charities and other organizations are enabling these throngs to get here. I’ve seen 16 wheelers with water and foods being handed out.
This is orchestrated........planned well enough to see them get to our border....it will be interesting as the cartels help them through mexico.
I wonder how many are really making the distance or if it’s a PR stunt where they have a set of students and assorted waifs march a certain segment for the cameras, then have another set of students from the next university or church group march the next leg to the next “press stop,” and so on, like a relay race.
