It’s hard to convey in words the scale of the catastrophe in Panama City. The whole city looks like a nuke was dropped on it. I’m literally shocked at the scale of the destruction

I haven’t watched Shep Smith in years. Can’t stand the liberal. But - he was terrific today I thought. Seems like he knows quite a bit about hurricane’s. I was shocked I was able to watch him!
Saw that earlier. Would be interesting to find out the difference between the two buildings. I would guess the one that’s gone is pre-Andrew and the one that remains is post-Andrew code changes.

Shep Smith was genuinely giddy reminiscing about all of his childhood family trips along the Gulf shore. Some of his car trip stories with his brother were pretty funny. After many summer holidays along the FL/AL/MS Gulf coast, Shep is quite familiar with the landscape. He was able to add some colorful detail to an otherwise difficult segment today.

Its hard to turn away from the pictures, data, satellites, buoys, models, internet, twitter, video, chasers, and all the other contemporaneous information that is available through the internet. It is raw and immediate. It is unfiltered and sometimes takes a while to verify or evaluate.
All that being said, earthquakes, disasters, hurricanes, forest fires, dam failures, tornadoes, and volcanoes are now available without having to rely upon a snot-nose from journalism school that can’t be bothered to have any commonsense or background in any field but video games.
Omgosh ! The entire building is gone!
I may have to watch Shep again......yes, he “done” good!
